Are we racing against PORSCHE?

We’ve just received news about Porsche’s latest technological breakthrough – a six-stroke internal combustion engine that utilizes a hypocycloidal crank mechanism. Based on the movement of a smaller gear rotating inside a larger ring, this design allows for two different top and bottom dead center positions within a single cycle.

The result? Variable compression in the cylinders – something not possible in conventional four-stroke engines – enabling more efficient scavenging of exhaust gases and better filling of the cylinder with fresh air-fuel mixture. Simply put: Porsche aims for more POWER with lower emissions.

We see this as a strong signal to the automotive world – especially to those predicting the quick demise of combustion engines. Porsche proves that the story isn’t over. On the contrary – a new, more ecological and performance-oriented chapter might just be beginning.

This solution is already being called brilliant and revolutionary. A simple YouTube video explaining the new Porsche engine has gained over 2 million views in just two months.

So what do we have in common with Porsche?

With the Porsche team – nothing.
But with the hypocycloidal engine concept – a lot.

At ENSAVID, we’ve developed the SH Engine – a symmetric hypocycloidal engine. Our system goes a step further than Porsche’s by completely eliminating the traditional connecting rod and replacing it with a precise gear-based mechanism that enables linear piston movement. This drastically reduces internal friction, significantly boosting mechanical efficiency.

Our goal is not to increase the number of strokes – that fits perfectly with Porsche’s high-performance DNA – but to maximize efficiency and enable versatile applications. We believe the SH Engine can be used in:

  • Automotive industry,
  • Marine and aerospace sectors,
  • Energy (compact and lightweight generators, air compressors),
  • Robotics and autonomous vehicles.

A patent application for ENSAVID’s technology was filed in 2023 and received a 100% positive preliminary assessment. PCT application in March 2024.

Like Porsche, we turn to the hypocycloidal principle to redefine what combustion engine efficiency and sustainability can mean. Porsche focuses on power and dynamic compression, while ENSAVID delivers mechanical simplicity, precision, and energy savings.

So what sets us apart from Porsche?

We don’t have our own prototyping infrastructure.
And no – we’re not racing against Porsche.
They’re running a different race – and doing an outstanding job in it.

But we’re excited that the same principle, which remained unused for over 100 years due to technological barriers, is finally returning – in two very different but equally ambitious interpretations.

If you’re interested in the future of engine technology – we’d love to connect.
