Motivation

Modern lifestyles—sedentary jobs, study routines, and lack of physical activity—lead to muscle weakening, tendon shortening, and spinal strain. While daily exercise is important, time and motivation are often lacking.

That’s why we created ‘Shape-Me Bike’—a bicycle that allows for upper-body training during everyday rides. It engages all major muscle groups typically left out when using a traditional bike. As a result, users can improve their endurance, strengthen muscles, and support spinal health—without needing to go to the gym.

Prototype and Design Development

‘Shape-Me Bike’ is equipped with a swinging drive bar that the rider moves back and forth using the thighs, supported by special leg supports. Both forward and backward motions generate propulsion. A transmission system converts this linear movement into rotational force, driving the rear wheel.

Unlike standard bikes, ‘Shape-Me Bike‘ does not have a saddle. Instead, it features a padded bar with rollers that rest on the front and back of the rider’s thighs. The drive mechanism relies on commonly available bicycle components—such as gears, freewheels, and chains—making it easy to manufacture and maintain.

Several prototype versions have been developed to date. The current, final version has been optimized for ergonomics, durability, and drive efficiency, and is ready for production deployment.
